Many of my ancestors were Cherokee. I know, I know world history – the survival of the fittest. I think I understand most human behavior. But the ultimate process of two civilizations fighting against each other is so tragic and sad.
My plan for camping here was to book a Montana State Park site to get us past the Forth of July holiday. With my resident discount and the senior discount, it’s very affordable. I didn’t make reservations far enough in advance and my options were more limited…
On my hike back I encountered many visitors heading to the falls. I was glad I had an early start today. I may be a bit of a hermit at times and enjoy the solitude of the mountains, without all the tourists 😉
I then left Jagger outside on his lead while I unloaded a few item from the Workhorse and got settled. When I came back outside I met one of the campers from the Montana Corps walking by our camp. She ask me if I saw the bear. WHAT? WHERE? She then told me over there pointing to their campsite, not more than a hundred feet away. Yikes!
After setting up our camp for the week, I tie Jagger up between two trees and stretch out on my lounger. Does it get any better than this Jagger? Staring up at the blue sky and being thankful for all I have been given…

This area became famous in the 1800’s as the final resting spot for settlers who had traveled the Oregon Trail from Independence, Missouri. Those stopping here knew they had a rough trail ahead and they let their livestock feed on the grassland and water in the the Snake river…
My setup here will be sparse, since we are moving again in the morning. On completion of the Coach’s setup Jagger and I go for a walk down the canyon. I let Jagger off leash briefly and he enjoys a little freedom.
