Routine: Wintering in Mesa
This is the longest I have sat in one place since I left Mesa earlier this year. Having family near is a blessing and it keeps me busy between my maintenance projects with fun times, like the “trick or treating”.
Retired, traveling with my Sidekick Jagger, pursuing the life of a "Retired Vagabond" and blogging about my adventures along the way.

Driving down the road the Workhorse responds better. Is that actual or perceived? I don’t know I tell Jagger to answer his thoughts. It always feels good to have new tires, even though it was so expensive…
I turn the key to start the Workhorse, click…nothing. I attempt several times, then open the hood to see if all the parts were still there. Hmm, looks like an engine to me. Try again, click…nothing…
Arriving at our Winter home in Mesa, Arizona proved to be another learning experience for Jagger…
Forth of July was a quiet one this year spent on Clarks Hill Lake. Foul weather is in our forecast and many families who reserved a spot on the lake were “no shows”
Happy Birthday Happy birthday to my traveling buddy Jagger. Today he is two years old. As some of you know he had many social issues when we first met at six months […]
Our drive is the best, uneventful. It’s only a hour and a half and we pull up to the Gate. I meet the nice Hostess at the window. ..
Travel Journal – June 28, 2015 On Sunday Cheryl drove over from Georgia and met me for lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Aiken. Then we went to the Historical […]
I hate to report this, my bad. Google led me down the black hole again. I thought I looked on the map before I left, but apparently not, as here we are on a one lane dirt road to nowhere…
As we arrive, I find myself driving down a “dead end” street that is very narrow, with trees hanging over the street on both sides, when I see a sign. Whew I was beginning to wonder if Google sent me down another black hole.
Jagger has a new dance. I call it the squirrel dance. Today on our morning walk around camp and the forest, I noticed his very focused attention up in the trees, so I stopped to let him check it out. He sits there for a minute and then most unexpectedly starts jumping straight up and down…
“You know Jagger, I really enjoy the drive east, but I am ready to stop somewhere for a while.” We have now been traveling three weeks, stopping along the way for a few days at times, to get the “flavors” of the areas that we touch. That has been nice, but there is just so much to see and experience. As much as travel inspires me, I need to focus on an area to really appreciate it.
