Down The Black Hole Again
I hate to report this, my bad. Google led me down the black hole again. I thought I looked on the map before I left, but apparently not, as here we are on a one lane dirt road to nowhere…

“You know Jagger, I really enjoy the drive east, but I am ready to stop somewhere for a while.” We have now been traveling three weeks, stopping along the way for a few days at times, to get the “flavors” of the areas that we touch. That has been nice, but there is just so much to see and experience. As much as travel inspires me, I need to focus on an area to really appreciate it.
I wasn’t sure how long I was going to be waiting for the new tire to be mounted. So I left for the tire store, leaving my buddy, Jagger behind…
What Google didn’t know is somewhere on the road was a piece of metal roughly 1/2″ x 3/4″ that was sharp. It punctured my tire. Just as I pulled out onto a highway…
I wanted to see Arkansas myself, after hearing many stories my grandfather told me about his youth here near Little Rock. Again being under somewhat of a time constraint to get to the East Coast we only camped five days here at Crystal Springs.
Later that day, Jagger and I drove to the market and on our way back went to the Lake Onapa, which was only a short 1/2 mile drive. “Turtle Crossing” ahead and yes I see it Jagger. Oh there are several little guys making their way across the street.
Our path is now final. We are on our way to Arkansas and Tennessee, eventually Georgia and South Carolina. This represents a change in my original plans for us. I wanted to see the Gulf, but it’s not in the cards due to the bad weather we have watched unfold in Texas this year. I will save it for another year of exploration.
I thought I had been shot. I look to the left while starting to apply my brakes at a steady rate. At the same time I turn on my emergency flashers as the Workhorse and Coach strained to slow down while maintaining its trajectory…
The first thing I come to when I arrive is Tombstone’s Boothill Cemetery.
After almost four hours we pull in the Butterfield RV Resort. We check in and pay for a couple of nights and pull the Coach over to our new site. The park looks pretty deserted. All of the Snowbirds have flown the coop!
It’s out in the desert. A place as dry as you could ever imagine except for the shallow valley of Salt Creek River, Arizona. Filled with greenery, including some nice size trees…
First light Jagger and I are hitching up the Coach and off to Surprise, AZ for the work to be completed. We again have to leave our home for the day, so we go to breakfast and then our favorite dog park in Surprise.
